Shhhh……… Don’t tell, Silvertop wanted to check out the level of the Nooksack river!😇
Looks like the river is headed towards flood stage again!🙄
Over 1/2 inch of rainfall was recorded on our “weather underground “ weather station early this morning, and the rain is continuing to fall!😅
I slipped through the opening on the side of the gate, and hiked down to the river.
“ Liz, are you coming with me? “🥰
The Mrs wanted to stay dry, she watched as Silvertop disappeared into the thicket of trees along the riverbank.
There is always a delay after heavy rains, before the river starts rising……………
I cautiously walked out onto the sandbar…….
The sound of river in itself is a bit intimidating………
I passed through willows bent over from past floods. You can see tons of debris embedded in branches!😮
Not as high as the last time Silvertop came down to the river, but definitely up in river level!
The river currently is at 76.63 feet, with flood stage at 83.5 feet.
I made my way back to the shoreline………
Hmmm……… wasn’t that section dry a few minutes ago? 🤔
It felt better being back on the shore, we are probably gearing up for more flooding!😳
Close to this location is the property our Church wants to start construction on a new building, possibly next year.
Hopefully the building property is a bit higher in elevation!😇
