Happy hump 🐪 day, happy new year and a very warm welcome to my report. We are bang in the middle of the week and bang in the middle of the month too, how lovely😹…
I have had a great day and am about to share it including the trending stories that caught my eye 👀.
Definitely thank you for stopping by and let’s get into it 💨.
So I started the day with the usual morning walk around the neighborhood. It was largely ☁️ cloudy and chilly. But the sun🌞shone through for a while later in the day
I didn’t last long outside and after about 25 to 30 minutes, I was back indoors for the usual house chores including cooking. I had earlier passed through the market for some fruits and veggies.
Later, I settled down to some you tube, x and trending news from around the world.
My final walk was the sunset 🌄 walk this time around the neighbourhood and local park
So now let’s look at what trended globally.
The biggest story is that finally, Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire deal to halt 15 months of war🎊🎉.
Unfortunately, 46,707 and counting Palestinians have been killed in the 15 months😿.
The Qatari PM made the announcement that the ceasefire would come into effect on 19 January 2025. The negotiators from both sides have been meeting in Doha, Qatar.
Celebrations broke out in Gaza as suffering Palestinians finally see a chance of peace. Across the border, protesters gathered in Tel Aviv including families of captives to celebrate the coming release of their loved ones.
Under the deal, Hamas will release captives over a six week period as Israel gradually withdraws its forces.
Under the deal also, 600 truckloads of humanitarian will enter the Gaza strip everyday. This will definitely ease the famine like situation and suffering of Palestinians.
Fingers crossed🤞, the deal works and the bombs stop💯.
Finally, south Africa trending as at least 78 dead bodies have been retrieved from a discontinued gold mine, where police cut off food and water supplies for months🙀.
Trade unions have called it a horrific crackdown on desperate people trying to eke out a living.
I doubt if justice will ever be served in this case, sad reality😿.
