Today was all about appreciating the little things in life, despite the uncooperative weather.

Although it rained much of the day, the kids’ spirits persisted as we went about our daily ritual of checking the weather with our mascot, Puk.

Our program included some standard activities.

A pleasant twist was given to our program when our students’ grandparents paid us a special visit.

A special space is what we wanted to create, where grandparents could interact with their grandkids and the school community because we recognize the important role grandparents play in children’s lives.

In hindsight, I deeply regret scheduling this event during Ramadan.

In my endeavor to be a considerate teacher, I try to observe all religious celebrations.

This time, I totally forgot about it, maybe because the majority of our kids don’t come from Muslim families.

Fortunately, the one and only Muslim grandfather in attendance accepted our apologies with grace.

We have learned a vital lesson from this failure, and going forward, we will make sure to pay more attention to religious celebrations.

Even with this error, the day was full of pleasant surprises.

Three kids put on an improvised performance for us in the afternoon; in just one hour, they had created a charming drama!

The laughter and delight in the room were a result of their ingenuity and excitement.

Speaking of perceptive minds, my tiny doctors monitored my health very carefully today.

With their limitless compassion and creativity, they were quick to identify and “cure” any ills.

It’s very touching to watch their creative roleplay.

I found some prehistoric creatures on my way home that will be ideal for a friend who is making a dinosaur cake.

Like my friend often does, adding these lifelike miniatures will turn the cake into a beauty.
