My friend, his son, and I played at a difficult disc golf course this morning. I ended up in a tie with my friend’s son for the win.

The scores were a couple of +8’s and a +11. I was having some issues with roll-away putts turning my par attempts into bogeys and doubles. I usually play more conservatively but I was in the mood to take some risks and it cost me a few throws.

I’ve been thinking about using a gummy putter for those risky throws but I have seen those roll away too. I have real trouble getting a soft gummy putter to go in the basket so I’m not sure it is worth making a change. It is probably best just to practice a lot more on making the basket with the putters that I know I have the best track record with.

My friend lost a disc on one of the difficult holes and we searched for it but could not find it. Later today someone found it and turned it in at the pro shop. I’ve never had a lost disc turn around and come back to you that fast. The people who play the course are good about returning discs and the pro shop is wonderful at getting in touch with you when discs are found.

I have to wonder if this bird was born in the birdhouse. It seems like it might be possible. Note to self: I should probably clean the birdhouse sometime before next season.
