I played a couple or rounds of nine basket disc golf at the easy local course. I headed down with three discs intending to just practice for a bit. There were a couple of baseball games going on so I thought I would skip the first two holes since going out of bounds into the baseball game might have been a bit embarising.
As I was practicing I heard a voice call out, “Good throw!” Off in the distance another disc golfer was yelling at me. I was not sure who it was, he was kind out out of my clear vision range. (I probably should wear my glasses but I can see just good enough so I hesitate.)
As he started walking I could tell it was one of my buddies by the way he moved. I was happy to see him out playing this course because usually I don’t see him here. We decided to play a short eighteen round game doing the nine hole course twice in a row.
I ended up winning with a -5 score. It is a pretty easy course and you don’t really need any distance drivers for it, except for one hole. I did pretty well just playing with fairway drivers and a throwing (or overstable approach) putter. My putter spit out through the chains on a putt that I’m pretty sure would have stuck if I had my usual putter on though.
My friend had his new bag and let me borrow a rag to wipe off discs. If I’m just practicing I usually don’t bother wiping them off but if I want to play well it really helps to keep the discs dry. My friend’s new bag was very nice looking, and he liked it a lot.
We ended up playing the entire course but were careful not to go out of bounds into the baseball field.
