Throwing iFit (Fri 4 Mar 2022)

My daughter encouraged me to try out the iFit app on her tablet that she uses with her exercise bike and for other workouts. Basically it’s a bunch of different guided workout videos.

I started with what was described as a beginner level total body workout using only a mat. It was supposed to be 5 exercises repeated twice for about a 10 minute workout. Now I’m not a beginner but that ten minutes was tough. My primary issue was each exercise was demonstrated too quickly and actually consisted of more than a single exercise.

For example, one exercise was something like a back lunge with a few punches plus a couple of kicks and maybe some other move thrown in. Then you switched sides, did it again, then repeat a few times. It felt like a complex dance move that I just wasn’t grasping.

I’m sure I missed a lot of the moves but it certainly got the blood pumping. Tried out one of the bike rides as well. I’m not a big fan of the bike but I managed to make it halfway through the workout before walking (painfully) away.

Before I throw in the towel on the app I may try a few resistance band or dumbbell workouts this weekend. Or I may just go back to using YouTube videos on the big screen TV.
