Blue Monday turned into a Cheerful Monday! My Actifit Report Card: November 14 2022

Today I resumed my exercising and I tried to push myself to pick up from where I left off two months ago. Two Months of little to no exercise had taken its toll. I hadn’t realized I was gradually becoming unfit and slowly losing my stamina which took me time to build. I enjoy cardio and aerobics more than other forms of exercise, and this has helped me to build my cardiovascular muscle.

Feeling my heart dance during exercise is one of the best feelings I would rank close to the one you get when you’re in love with the right person😉.

I think I am now addicted to the amount of dopamine that gets released when I am jogging and I always push my body to the limit with a few sprints 30 seconds to 1-minute sprints just to conclude my runs with a jumping heart.

I always capitalize on knowing when to rely on endurance versus stamina and this has helped me to cope with my running routine. It is better to use the “Overload principle” which aims to set a target by increasing either: the "distance I run", or the speed I run vs the amount of time I can run. This depends on my fitness level at the time of my exercise and what I plan to do after that.

After two months of being less active, I was impressed that I could still jog roughly the same distance I use to cover while I was still consistent and active two months ago. Even though my stamina may have decreased due to a lack of consistency, I was able to rely on my endurance to sustain my exercise for an extended period. But there was a trade-off between the distance and speed vs the amount of time I ran to be able to cover my targeted steps (10k). But above all, I feel energic now and no longer feel tired and lethargic. I can say resuming my exercise managed to turn my blue Monday into a cheerful Monday!
