My Actifit Report Card: May 4 2024

Yeah, after this somewhat stressful week, we’re back on our land and working on our tiny house project.

When we arrived, we saw that a tree had fallen into the pond.

Getting it out is going to be a lot of work. But it will be an opportunity to test our boat and gradually saw off the branches to remove them from the water.

When we left our land last week, we had started to empty the caravan and discovered part of our floor was moldy.

This weekend, the goal is not to repair the floor. But to prepare the repairs we plan for next week.

So that means:

  • Removing the foldaway bed, which is held only by 4 hinges with 3 screws each. The problem is these screws won’t turn and are rusty, so we need to cut the hinges.
  • Dusting the caravan.
  • Sanding the existing floor.
  • Applying a waterproofing coat to the existing floor because then, we will add a new layer of OSB, which will save us from having to completely redo the floor.

For the application of the waterproofing coat, we forgot to buy brushes and rollers.

So, we asked my aunt if she had any, and she only had one brush.

Never mind, it will just take longer and might not be done as well. But we’re not going to install a shower here anyway. It’s mainly to prevent moisture from rising.

@altheana did that.

Meanwhile, I started weeding around the tiny house.

I didn’t have my phone on me because it was in the tiny house with Spotify playing. But I also did some good work and I woke up this morning with sore muscles.

While weeding, I saw several rat holes around the house. We know some manage to get in. We really need to find something to scare them away. Rat poison isn’t a good solution because it works as bait and thus attracts rats.

But apparently, vinegar can be a good solution. You have to soak a handkerchief in vinegar and put it in every rat or mouse hole you see. And in the tiny house, place one or two glasses with white vinegar.

It’s an unpleasant smell for them. For us too, but until we find other solutions, we’ll try this.
