Trail treasures……….

Today dawned sunny with pristine blue skies. A fabulous fall day and a fabulous day to take an afternoon hike. We met Jan, and being as we hadn’t been up Westergreen way since April, decided that was the destination for today. At one point, the trail was almost obliterated by spring and summer vegetative growth! Where’s my machete when I need one?! Anyway, we did eventually break out of the clearing to that stunning view in the first photo. Hey @kerrislravenhill, can you see us waving? The view is north towards Abbotsford, Canada.

@actifit-lamb hesitantly came along. You see, she’d heard about the Cougar attack yesterday and didn’t want to become another victim! I reassured her I’d not let the Cougar get her, and she jumped into my daypack, but kept a low profile just in case! Along the trail, we stopped and she found these.

These are US Trade coins; the modern version. Featured on the obverse is the likeness of Martin Van Buren who was the 8th president of the United States and the years he held office, from 1837-1841. On the reverse is a depiction of the Statue of Liberty, the words, United States of America, and the value of $1. These two are from 2001 and 2003.

As for @actifit-lamb, she thinks she found them. Jan actually gave them to @silvertop and myself, but @actifit-lamb needed a distraction from the thought of the Cougar. Anyway, it was nice of Jan to think of us when she got these at the bank the other day. 🥰 Here’s a closer pic of them.

We headed on to the pond where I found a bunch of hoar frost which created some amazing pictures!

Of course, there were ‘shrooms!
