MTB fun! My Actifit Report Card: June 9 2024

Our morning skies have been clear blue of late. This morning was no different, so after washing the car, which needed a good clean, I set out on a ride.

Tilgate forest and onwards into Oldhouse Warren where the biggest assent of the day is climbed. The conditions were better than I expected. It seems that most of the wet spots have dried up. Great for mountain biking!

A spot at the lowest point crossing a brook where some of the bank has collapsed into the ditch. It won’t be long before this needs repairing.

Onwards and upwards now! A long, steady climb brings me to a road. Once across the road, accessing a private road that doubles as a bridleway for a short distance before another road. Shortly turning off the road into Cowdray forest.

Then this! I have not been this way since last summer, so this notice was a surprise. Dear stalking with rifles! Hopefully, not today, though. 🤣

Further on, the track splits again. Then, it’s clear that the public footpath is safe. Phew!

With a sense of relief, I continued along.
This part of the woods is so beautiful, looking both ways under the shade of the fir trees.

A favourite stopping point just ahead in the sunshine. Downhill now, towards the main road. Crossing into some wooded footpaths through a housing estate towards Tilgate Park once more.

Along the way, there can always be unexpected obstacles like this small tree, which has fallen over the footpath.

Once back in Tilgate Park I stopped at the lake for a breather and some nuts before making my way back. Another really good ride in some beautiful scenery. Here’s to next time!
