Villa Holding Interest

As the season gets underway we’ve seen so many injuries, Villa being one of them seeing their new signing pull up with a long-term injury. Steven Gerrard wants to add another center-back to his squad before the close of the transfer window. Villa thought they needed up their backline for the new season but the news that Diego Carlos will have to undergo surgery on his injury and is expected to miss the majority of the 2022/23 campaign is a big blow.

Aston Villa are now frantically looking for a replacement and drawing up a wishlist list which is thought to include Arsenal defender Rob Holding with the 26-year-old having fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

Villa already has former Gunner Chambers on the books who can fill in at center back and having moved on Ballard, Mavrapanos, and Mari, while Tavares and Trustey are out on loan should any of our center backs get injured we would be in the same position.

I don’t think it’s wise to sell holding, especially with our full-backs having plenty of injuries, and Ben White already playing at right back. But when it comes to the gunners they sure do like setting themselves up for potential failures.

Rekik, would be the only other option and that seems far too thin for the season we have ahead of us.
