Had grand plans for doing a walk in Royal National Park on the drive home. Slow start after late night watching Giro made for a change of plan. Drove via Picton Road and stopped at Cordeaux Dam. Nice sunny day to be out and about. Also breaks up the drive
View of the dam from picnic area car park. Nobody about
Dam information
One of a network of dams that serve the South Coast and Sydney area
These signs are everywhere - no access to any of the tracks to look for orchids. Can only walk along the fringes
Plenty of mushrooms on show
In a mix of colours - a little cream
At first thought this was a branch stump - nope - wrinkled mushroom
Emerging in orange
Twins in orange
Surprised to find a few purple fan flowers still going
Egg and bacon flower with bee feeding - growing in a small park made in a quarry segment
Makes for a tranquil spot
Sundew photo - tiny and hard photo work
Love the shape of this fern unfurling in the afternoon sun
The road down to the wall - walked a bit of it. One of those Special Area signs in bottom right of picture - on both sides of the road
One last tourist photo. Rail car. Not sure if it was used for the quarry work or comes from the colliery down the road.
Slow drive home on the Hume Highway. Road works made for 20 minute segment doing 8 or 9 km/h - all moved after that.
Dinner was planned the last time I was home - had bought stuff for two nights and vacuum sealed them. Also had a half bottle of red wine in the fridge to keep it alive for 19 days.
