Wake to a lovely sunny day. Got to say the mood did not match the day. The game on days like this is to crack some small wins. Hang out the laundry - rake some leaves - get on the bike to find some orchids
Stop one - sharp greenhoid flowering on the edge of Ku-ring Gai Chase NP. Was a bud last week
Pterostylis acuminata. The surprise was there are maybe 10 plants but only one has a flower spike
Fringed midge orchid seeded close by
Back on the bike to walk a different slice looking for parsons bands orchids - mushrooms in the sedge
This track was smashed last year in the big rain when they replaced a power pole. Crunched up the one site for eriochilus orchids this side. Looking for survivors
Looking for a little white flower. Not this one but they are often seen together
Found one - parsons band orchid
The leaf - a little hairy and burgundy beneath
Side on - eriochilus petricola
Good to find four or five plants above the track work - one right on the edges. None below. Last year they were growing in the middle of the tracks
The petals are only 5 mm long - colours are fab. On the bike for the next leg - looking for sharp greenhoods
Found one in flower right on the track - sharp greenhood
Flower and budding mate behind.
Note: Ran out if time to get the post done before midnight. Will slide a few photos into the next one
