Wybraliśmy się wczoraj nas spacer do centrum Mons, 26 grudnia nie jest w Belgii traktowany jako dzień świąteczny, jednak na ulicach pustki i ruch uliczny zdecydowanie mniejszy. To wszystko raczej ze względu na okres świąteczno-noworoczny, kiedy to wielu mieszkańców bierze kilka dni urlopu i wyjeżdża wypoczywać.

[ENG] Yesterday we went for a walk to the center of Mons, December 26 is not treated as a holiday in Belgium, but the streets are empty and there is definitely less traffic. This is all due to the Christmas and New Year period, when many residents take a few days off and go to rest.

Wyłącznie w okolicach Grand Place było tłoczno, a to wszystko za sprawą jarmarku świątecznego, który będzie tam funkcjonował do 30 grudnia, bo następnego dnia w tym miejscu mieszkańcy Mons będą świętować nadejście Nowego Roku. Wczoraj było dość ciepło, ale nic nie stało na przeszkodzie, żeby dodatkowo rozgrzać się kubkiem grzanego wina.

[ENG] Only the area around Grand Place was crowded, all because of the Christmas market, which will be open there until December 30, because the next day, the inhabitants of Mons will celebrate the coming of the New Year in this place. Yesterday it was quite warm, but nothing stopped us from warming up with a cup of mulled wine.

W drodze powrotnej znaleźliśmy jeszcze jeden z tegorocznych murali, jest to dzieło greckiego artysty Stelios Pupet i nosi tytuł "Harmonizing Mons", w harmonijny sposób nawiazuje do patrona ulicy belgijskiego poety i kompozytorem Antoine Clesse. Jego pieśń “La Bière” ciągle jest śpiewana na piwnych festiwalach.

[ENG] On the way back, we found another one of this year’s murals, it is the work of the Greek artist Stelios Pupet and is titled "Harmonizing Mons", a harmonious reference to the patron of the street, the Belgian poet and composer Antoine Clesse. His song “La Bière” is still sung at beer festivals.
