Kolejny dzień szwendania się po Walencji. Plan jak zwykle był ambitny, a wykonanie takie sobie. Zaczęliśmy od Mercado Central de Valencia, czyli największego w Europie targu pod dachem. Taki miks lokalnego rynku i turystycznej atrakcji, ciekawe miejsce, pełne różnych lokalnych przysmaków.

[ENG] Another day of walking around Valencia. As usual, the plan was ambitious and the execution so-so. We started at the Mercado Central de Valencia, the largest indoor market in Europe. Such a mix of local market and tourist attraction, an interesting place full of various local delicacies.

Drugim miejscem, które polecane jest przez wielu infulencerów jako "must see, and must try", jest Orxateria Santa Catalina. Słynie ona z Horchaty, czyli jednego z najpopularniejszych tradycyjnych napojów chłodzących w Hiszpanii. Klasyczną horchatę przyrządza się z zasuszonych bulw cibory jadalnej (hiszp. chufa), głównie w Walencji i na pobliskim wybrzeżu Morza Śródziemnego. Pierwsze łyki nie zapowiadały, że ten napój przypadnie mi do gustu, ale im było bliżej dna w szklance to moje zdanie zmieniało się wprost proporcjonalnie do znikającego napoju. Chyba jeszcze raz muszę go spróbować.

[ENG] The second place recommended by many tourists as a ‘must see and must try’ is the Orxateria Santa Catalina. It is famous for its horchata, one of Spain’s most popular traditional cold drinks. Classic horchata is made from the dried tubers of the edible cibora (Spanish: chufa), mainly in Valencia and the nearby Mediterranean coast. The first sips did not promise to please me, but as I got closer to the bottom of the glass, my opinion changed in direct proportion to the disappearing drink. I think I must try it again.

Skoro już byliśmy na Plaza de la Reina, to wypadało sprawdzić czy długość kolejki do katedry La Seu dr Valencia jest odpowiednio krótka. Mieliśmy szczęście, bo kolejka do wejścia była dziesięć razy krótsza niż wczoraj. Miejsce z ciekawą historią, od rzymskiej świątyni Diany, przez kościół katolicki, muzułmański meczet i ponownie katolicka świątynie. W jednej z kaplic można zobaczyć rzekomy Święty Graal.

[ENG] As we were already in the Plaza de la Reina, it was appropriate to check that the queue for La Seu Dr Valencia Cathedral was suitably short. We were lucky, as the queue to get in was ten times shorter than yesterday. A place with an interesting history, from the Roman temple of Diana to a Catholic church, a Muslim mosque and back to a Catholic temple. In one of the chapels you can see the reputed Holy Grail.

Popołudnie to spacer do Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, czyli miasteczka przyszłości. A w drodze powrotnej trafiliśmy na park Guliwera, bardzo mocno musiałem dusić w sobie dziecko, żeby nie zjechać tyłku po jednej ze ślizgawek.

[ENG] In the afternoon we went to the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, the city of the future. And on the way back we went to Gulliver’s Park, where I had to choke the baby inside me to keep from sliding down one of the slides.
