Wedding Day

It’s finally the much awaited day of this beautiful couple- their wedding day.

The bride and I have a funny story. She is perhaps 13 or 14 years younger than me. She was a small girl when I last saw her. Then last month, she came to our house to invite me to her wedding. We talked about how the last time she saw me was like 20 years ago - yes, before I went to the UAE to work.

Back story, when she was a kid, she would see me in a teacher’s uniform (I worked as a clerk in the Department of Education), and she apparently took inspiration from me. Then she told her parents that she’d want me to be her godmother.

Fast forward a few years later, I was already living and working abroad, and yes, she did take me as her godmother when she received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Now, I finally met her as a responsible young adult, ready to embark on a new journey.

So today was her wedding day. Because of work, I missed the ceremony at the church, but we just joined the celebration at the reception.

Of course, here’s one of the beautiful couple as they were dancing their first as a married couple.

I have to say that weddings are special. Through the ceremony, we were able to know more about their journey as a couple. Young as they are, they have been together for 14 years already!

A few times, I shed some tears as I look at the bride. My heart breaks for her as both her parents were not there - her mother is sick, undergoing dialysis, and her father decided to just be at the church (did not also march with her).

Anyway, I sincerely wish them a happy married life together. 👩‍❤️‍👨
