On 14 December 1979, “London Calling” was released, the third studio album by The Clash.
It is a double album with 18 songs that covers diverse musical styles such as reggae, ska or soul fused with the traditional punk rock that The Clash had been developing in previous works. The album cover has become an icon, one of the best of all time.
If with their subsequent work entitled “Sandinista!” there are mixed opinions ranging from excellence to a lesser work, with “London Calling” there is not the slightest doubt on the part of all critics that this is an absolute masterpiece, one of the best albums in the history of rock.
