My Actifit Report Card: January 19 2023

Another cold Winter day but both Lulu and I were able to enjoy some fun hiking and walking around in the sunshine while we wait for more wintery weather to roll in by the weekend.

The landscape was frosted from the overnight chill and the earlier melt water was still frozen as we trudged around the rock pit trail.

Once again it was a leisurely paced walk as Lulu was busy sticking her snout into the snow around every bush but it was still a good 2+ mile or so start to the day and a nice way to get warmed up for the rest of our day.
We then headed over through Skull Valley to see if we could get over to Copper Basin Wash to check if the rains and melting snow were flowing down the hills and bringing some pretty rocks along. Unfortunately the road was still a bit to snowy so we stopped to hike around on some Forest Service jeep trails along the way.

About 6 inches of soft snow in spots but I had no trouble navigating through the soft stuff and other sections were just a bit muddy but the tranquility of the hills was great and were ended up walking just over 4 miles according to my watch and it felt great (even with my wet does afterwards). Lulu had a blast and was running around like crazy snd playing like a little puppy in the snow.

I hope that we can get over to Lynx Creek tomorrow or this weekend but the forecast is for more precipitation so I’ll just have to see how messy things are.
