Tomorrow is my weekly badminton match against my colleague, also known as the clash of the titans. That’s why today I decided to go to the gym, work on my legs, glutes and, of course, the core.
Legs are important in badminton, in sport in general. There are very few sports that don’t benefit from having strong legs. But there are very few that put that much strain on glutes like badminton. I’m sore for days after every match (and NO, that has nothing to do with my age, it’s just how this sport is). 😝
And what better exercise for the legs and glutes then squats. I love doing squats, and I love when others do squats. 😜
One more exercise that’s will give me an edge in badminton matches are lunges, because you probable do half a dozen lunges during just one point in the match. Who knows how many are there in the whole match. Lunges are my weakest spot (shhh, don’t tell my colleague), and I don’t know if I hate the forward ones or backward ones more.
Leg curl is another exercise I like doing, by I love it more when others do it. 😜 It activates the butt, thigh, and front shin muscles effectively. This exercise targets both hamstrings and calf muscles, thereby making you strong and flexible. Just what I need to win!
I always save the best for last, core muscles. For abs, instead of always doing sit-ups I did “the bicycle” and alternating toe touch crunch.
And last but not least - 2 or 3 planks for a minute. Lovely!
