Postcards from Thailand #64: Food Secrets

It’s been a very tough few days, but with the end of the tunnel finally appearing, it was time to rush out into the light and escape to a little restaurant by the sea.

I say restaurant, but it’s little more than someone’s back garden. There isn’t even a mention of it on Google maps but it sits on Ban Makham, just outside Nathorn and about 4 miles from home. If you know, you know and many people do. It only opens 11am while 4pm which is a shame as Ban Makham is situated on the West side of the island so the sunsets are sublime. No matter, there is a whole plethora of other establishments to eat and drink within close proximity when the sun goes down. Get there at 12 however and you aren’t going to get a table. Luckily, we were there at 3pm and had no such problems.

The wife peruses the simple menu carefully each time we visit but I know she’ll go for the noodles, which she says are the best she’s had on the island and the fish with the bent head who’s name I forget.

As simple as the dishes here are, it always looks perfectly presented and is fresh and tasty.

As for me. I was as boring as usual and went for the most common dish in Thailand, Pad Gra Pao Moo. Pork and Holy Basil.

It has to be served with a fried egg. Alright, I admit it. It’s actually little more than spicy mince but the holy basil makes it fragrant and tasty and I love it, as boring as it may be!

You’ll notice the wife was in black and we had our first full day off since getting back from the UK so be forewarned, there could be another temple post on its way!

That’s it for today and a very respectable step count. I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and a great start to the week.

I suppose I could have given you the name and pinned it to @worldmappin but no, it’s going to remain the locals little secret! This report was published via Actifit app (Android | iOS). Check out the original version here on actifit.io 08/12/2024 16416 Daily Activity, Walking
