@nomaddreamer and I hit our trail late in the day today. It was hot and humid, with no breeze through the trees at all. The air was heavy and I was sweating up a storm before I knew it!

The forest brought its usual peace, despite the summer weather. There was less life than usual, but that could be blamed on the late afternoon time or the weather; I’m not sure which variable caused the retreat of the wildlife. The insects were certainly busy buzzing!

I don’t like the mosquitoes and the buzzing-at-my-ears flies, but I don’t mind the moths and butterflies at all.

The wildflowers have also been busy, with the new summer season bringing all kinds of blooming new flowers. Summer has nothing on the sheet amount of spring blooms, but I do enjoy the variety of the summer blooms!

Mia (the Wonder Aussie) was especially interested in this particular spot in the forest… I didn’t know why until I studied the area off of the trail…

and I saw this lil Three Toed Box Turtle hiding in the growth! Mia is quite the turtle hunter. She never gets to eat her prey as I’m sure she would love, but I do appreciate her nose’s talents for my sake! I adore getting to see the turtles, especially the ones that I would otherwise have missed.
