Challenges, Triumphs, Fitness & My Actifit Report Card: January 3 2024

Just the second day back at work, and with kids around, it felt like I’d been working forever. LOL. Time did flew by, but I could not help but feel a bit frustrated as the boy I was supporting with didn’t respond during the first two lessons. I’m new to him, and he’s new to me, so it’s understandable. Building rapport, especially with special needs students, takes time, and it’s been a while (3 years) since I was in a similar situation. I managed to connect with him at the end by giving him an easy and fun activity. I realize I need to be proactive and find his interests and strengths to make learning more engaging for him.

On the flip side, both of my Speech and Language students were fantastic. When I visited them, they were both chatty and shared stories about their holidays. One of them drew a mind map and needed my help to write words and add ‘bubble talk’ (speech bubbles). I haven’t watched ‘A Boy Called Christmas,’ so I wasn’t sure about the details, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was that he felt comfortable talking to me. I started working with him in November last year, and seeing his progress was rewarding.😊

No matter how tired I felt, I knew I had to exercise. So, I headed straight to the studio for an hour of Zumba Fitness. Unfortunately, I missed the first class, my favorite Kpop dance fitness, because of an extra job I needed to finish. Nevertheless, the Zumba class was enjoyable, and I unlocked another fantastic sweat day.
