My Saturday In Mexico City. Tepito And Centro. My Actifit Report Card: Jan 23 2022

Today, I went for a walk to Tepito district in Mexico City with two friends I made at a hostel that I am staying at. This area is supposed to be dangerous and I was cautioned not to go there alone but I did not feel that unsafe. There were definitely poverty in some areas but most of the walk was through a lively market.

One of the things that we went to see was the "Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte(Our Lady of The Holy Death)" shrine. She is a personification of death and she is associated with healing, protection, and safe delivery to the afterlife by her devotees.

The area around the shrine did look little bit sketchy. My guess is that tall abandoned looking building is a scrap yard.

Then we walked back down south to the Centro(Downtown) area of the city. The Alameda Central Park had a lot of people since it was Saturday.
