Walked Royal National Park - Mushroom Day : April 28 2024

A different day ahead. Got to drive to airport to drop my wife off for her trip to the Netherlands. Quick trip apart from the last 2 kms into the terminal - was slow in and out. Did the drop off and drove to walk Royal National Park on south side of town

Coffee

And cooked breakfast - do not often do that. Then walked across the railway line into the National Park

Interesting fungal form is first up wild photo

Banksia with a pin leaf

Sundew flower - really small and hard to get a perfect photo. Flower is smaller than a half Euro piece

Was surprised to find this patersonia iris flowering. There were actually quite a few. As they normally flower in spring, I am guessing they think the mild autumn is spring

Pea flowers are expected and stating to emerge all over

Turned into a mushroom day - it is autumn

The big picture shows what these smaller ones will grow to

I understand these may be edible - not taking chances until I know what is Sade or not

Track work had trashed any orchids on track side but it has made this a popular mountain bike track.

More mushroom variety - quite different to the ones before

It has a thicker form and does not have the pronounced vanes underneath

The symmetry of this flower caught my eye - standing maybe 2 inches off the ground - love the rotated rings

Zoomed into the perfect flower on the same theme

This area is full of cycling tracks - took one to cut back to station - creek crossing time

Small tumbling creek heading down to Audley Wier

Not expecting to see a purple fan flower. There were a few along the track

One of those exploding fungus forms right in the track

A few leptospermum flowering - saw white and pink. Proximity is not far from the beach - maybe 5 kms

More vibrant fungal form than the first one - coral fungus

Used the creeks for navigation - still made a few wrong turns. Used the sound of the Princes Highway and the soccer fields to keep me on track

A different mushroom - they grow on the trees - am told they are edible. This one on the ground

And up.

Up works as it is easy to get underneath for the key ID photo - the vanes below

Did find two orchids in different spots - seeded fringed midge orchids - corunastylis fimbriatus. Photo were hard especially as the camera did motion photos. Hard to edit

Banksia to end the walk in the bush.

A few mural photos where I had parked the car in Engadine - an old geyser, a ship probably named Engadine and a favourite son playing rugby league for Cronulla Sharks up the road

The town is Engadine. The E stands for the town and the sister city is in Switzerland - hone town for a friend. Hence the Swiss stamp

A few tableau images of the local sights.

Had done the 10k steps not long after 20 am - not normally over 1k by then. Body knows.

Slower drive home - one whole hour and no steps.

Had a quiet at home day after that - caught up on the accounts. Did a little IM stuff - hard to get fired up.

Did cook dinner: simple lamb BBQ
