5K Training Session #4
I beat my previous time by another three minutes! It was a solid run, and I have some new insights to take away.
The first is that I went back to my usual schedule which was morning time right after waking up. The weather was significantly cooler and I ran on an empty stomach which I think makes a pretty big difference.
The second is I relearned how important pacing is. Instead of really pushing it for the 1st mile, I kept it rather even and was able to hold my pace for the first 2 miles. From there I took some short breaks, but I was already so far ahead on my pace that it didn’t matter.
I think my next major goal will be to hold a steady pace through the entire run if possible. I’m already 2/3 of the way there so I think it will be doable in the next couple of training sessions. I’d love to be able to run the entire thing and not have to stop to walk.
